Another big day for the Ran Lab: our first postdoctoral associate, Zahraa Chorghay, formally started in the lab. New research intern, Tianxiao Huang, will join us this summer. Catherine Gallori just accepted her MD-PhD offer from UCSF. Congratulations to all!

The lab welcomes the first rotation student, Shiqi Wang, to the lab. Earlier today, our research assistant, Catherine Gallori, got another MD/PhD offer (her fifth offer!!), and Zahraa Chorghay, decided to join the lab as a postdoc associate. A day of celebration!

Catherine, Chen, and incoming rotation student, Shiqi Wang, attended SfN 2023. It was Catherine’s and Shiqi’s first in-person conference!

Chen presented the work on brainstem representations of visceral signals at the 30th Annual Meeting of the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior in Portland, Oregon. Chen looks forward to joining the next SSIB meeting in Chicago in 2024!

A mini-reunion of Chen and some of his previous mentees. Catherine Gallori and Jack Boettcher both graduated summa cum laude (highest honor) from Harvard. Catherine additionally won the Hoopes Prize for her undergraduate thesis on brainstem pathways for interoception. Together in the photo is Yandan Wang, a previous research assistant working with Chen, who is now in PhD program at Stanford University. Congratulations to Yandan, Catherine, and Jack!!!
